ARCANA

“Some say the power bends fate, others say it breaks you first.”

Arcana is a fantasy series based off Tarot cards.

SYNOPSIS

Once a promising child whose life was shattered by tragedy, neglect, and manipulations, 22-year-old Isaac now seeks to seize absolute control of his fate by gathering the legendary 22 Major Arcana, magical artifacts that, when united, are said to divine the future and shape destiny itself. His journey is riddled with peril and filled with battles that test his strength and will, but also fleeting moments of joy and companionship that slowly challenge his belief that control is the only path. As Isaac draws closer to his goal, he must make an ultimate choice: claim absolute control at the cost of what makes him human or surrender to the unpredictable wonders of, simply, living.

CROAKED

Croaked is a stop-motion animated short film currently in development for my final year of university.
I helped with the initial concept art and pitch, after which we got greenlit for development. We are currently in the final stages of pre-production and I am acting as a puppet fabricator, developing and creating an animation ready puppet of the scorpion character.

Project [=========]

(previously redacted) ‘Sanitatem Mentis’

“Calling it lunacy makes it easier to explain away the things we don't understand.” - Megan Chance

This series of work contextualizes mental disorders and illnesses in an inhumane way as a commentary on how these disorders are viewed as taboo and unnatural in many places around the world. Even to this day, people suffering from serious mental issues are looked down on, called names, and sent to facilities that end up doing more harm than good. I aimed to lean into that stereotype by representing different illnesses as test subjects of a mad scientist, working to create these “creatures” that border on monstrous body horrors. I had a lot of inspiration from the 80s and 90s body horror films such as The Thing and The Human Centipede, as well as works by Francesca Woodman and The Black Paintings by Goya. In a way, by creating these works, I was acting as both subject and the mad doctor.
